How to Prepare for UPSC CAPF AC 2026

The decisive UPSC CAPF AC strategy is to prepare Paper II as a genuine writing paper rather than an afterthought, because 200 of the 450 written marks come from essay, precis and comprehension that cannot be answered from objective preparation.

Treat Paper II as a real writing exam

Two hundred marks of essay, comprehension and precis in three hours. Candidates preparing only objectively consistently underperform here. Write timed essays and precis weekly from the start.

Note that Part B must be in English

Part A essays may be written in Hindi or English, but the 120-mark comprehension and precis section must be answered in English only. Hindi-medium candidates should build English writing capability deliberately.

Build broad general studies depth

Paper I spans polity, economy, history, geography, science and current events at graduate level across 250 marks. NCERT foundations plus a standard general studies text and daily newspaper reading is the reliable route.

Train for the PET early

Men face 100 metres in 16 seconds, 800 metres in 3 minutes 45 seconds, a 3.5-metre long jump and a 7.26 kg shot put. Each event allows limited chances, and the shot put in particular needs technique coaching.

Prepare for an officer-like-qualities interview

The 150-mark personality test carries a quarter of the total and assesses leadership, judgement and decision making rather than factual recall. Prepare to discuss internal security, force roles and your own motivation substantively.

Respect the narrow age window

The age band is 20 to 25, reckoned as on 1 August of the examination year. Most candidates have only a handful of attempts, so a structured full-syllabus plan matters more than in exams with wider windows.
