The SSC CHSL 2026 application window closed on 7 October 2026. The correction window runs 14–16 October 2026. This guide stays live as a step-by-step reference for that correction window and for candidates preparing ahead of the next cycle.
How to Apply — Step by Step
Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
Visit ssc.gov.in and complete OTR — old registrations from ssc.nic.in don't carry over, so every candidate registers fresh on the current portal.
Log in and select the exam
Log in with your registration number and password, then select "Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination" under Live Exams.
Fill in your details
Complete personal, educational and category details — match your name, father's name and date of birth exactly to your 10th certificate.
Choose your exam centres
Select up to three exam cities within the same SSC region. Centres cannot be changed later, so choose carefully.
Upload photo and signature
Capture a live photograph (pre-saved uploads are rejected) and upload your signature as a 10-20 KB JPEG, about 6.0 x 2.0 cm.
Preview and pay the fee
Preview every field carefully before paying. Pay the ₹100 fee online if applicable to your category — women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ESM are exempt.
Submit and save the printout
Submit the form and download the final application printout for your records — you'll need it again at document verification.
Photo & Signature Specifications
Photograph
Must be a live capture through the application module or mySSC app, taken at the time of applying. No caps, masks, sunglasses, or pre-saved/old photos — those are rejected outright.
Signature
JPEG format, 10-20 KB file size, roughly 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm. Sign in black or blue ink on plain white paper, then scan or photograph it cleanly before uploading.
Application Fee
₹100 for general candidates. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen are fully exempted. Payable via BHIM UPI, net banking, or Visa/Mastercard/Maestro/RuPay debit cards.
Correction Fee
₹200 for the first correction, ₹500 for the second — up to two corrections allowed during the window.
Non-Refundable
The fee is non-refundable once paid and can't be adjusted against any other SSC exam.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mismatched personal details
Name, father's and mother's names, and date of birth must match your 10th certificate exactly — mismatches cause problems at document verification, not just the application stage.
Non-compliant photo/signature
A cap, mask, pre-saved photo, or an oversized/undersized signature file is one of the most common rejection triggers — follow the exact specs above.
Waiting until the last hours
The portal slows significantly near the deadline. Submitting a day or two early avoids last-minute server load entirely.
Not confirming fee-received status
If payment seems to fail, wait a few hours and recheck your application history before retrying — don't assume it failed and pay twice.
Upload file issues
Keep file sizes within spec and avoid special characters in file names; try a different browser or the mySSC app if the webcam capture fails.
Using unofficial links
Apply only through ssc.gov.in or the official mySSC app — third-party "apply now" links are a common phishing vector during peak application season.
